Ingredients for Lamb Haleem

  • 1 lb lamb, boneless and cubed
  • 1 cup wheat grains
  • 1 cup mixed lentils (masoor dal, moong dal)
  • 1/2 cup barley
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 1/4 cup ghee or oil
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • Haleem spice mix
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • Fried onions for garnish

Instructions for Making Lamb Haleem

  1. Preparation: Soak wheat grains, lentils, and barley in water separately for a few hours or overnight.

  2. Cooking Lamb: In a large pot, heat ghee/oil and sauté onions until golden. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook until fragrant. Add lamb pieces, Haleem spice mix, and salt. Cook until lamb is browned.

  3. Cooking Lentils and Grains: Drain and add soaked wheat grains, lentils, and barley to the pot. Add water and simmer until everything is tender and mushy, stirring occasionally.

  4. Blending: Using an immersion blender or masher, blend the mixture until smooth and creamy. Adjust consistency with water if needed.
